Quality Assurance
Certifiable (or accreditable) ISO 9001 QUALITY ASSURANCE systems have become a common mechanism for monitoring and managing systems against service (or product) standards and objectives.
Many professional bodies and industries have developed their own particular standards and have linked these to an ISO 9001 system for the purposes of managing the actual standards.
Nationally, Australia (Standards Australia) has developed hundreds of standards for both products or services which when audited, provide a Certifiable Standard of an actual product identified by a particular code. This is referred to as a Product Standard as distinct from the system standard of ISO 9001.
Internationally, where countries agree on the need for global standards, these are developed along the same lines as Standards Australia. The difference is, they are recognised by an international code and are accepted by those companies who form part of the original agreement.
ISO 9001 - Quality Management System forms part of the International Standards agreed by well over 100 countries. The standard was first developed in 1987, mostly focused on product quality for the export/import market. It was reviewed in 1994 to align itself more with service industries.

What does it mean to a Company?
- Documenting processes to reflect what, when and how you manage the overall business systems that affect client services
- Internally auditing your own systems to ensure they work well, and that they are being followed,
Providing records which are traceable to the actual activity, to the client and to a timeline, - Managing relationships with clients and regulatory bodies such as OH&S, to ensure standards meet the necessary requirements,
- Ensuring capability (competency) of personnel to meet their work obligations, e.g. training, job descriptions, subcontractors capabilities,
- Submitting the company to external audit by an external accreditation body for certification and for ongoing compliance audits.
